Week 5 - Game Ideas


This week I have come up with a few prototypes for games to make in this unit. 


Twist & Turn

In this platformer, play as the platform, moving in different ways allowing the player to reach the goal at the end of each level. This game would probably mouse controlled. Normal movement on the x and y axis mirrored in game. Holding left click enables rotation. Play as a ball to help movement. Dangerous obstacles that the player has to think about avoiding.  “Break the system” as it flips the standard for platformers, going against the traditional model of player moving through an environment. Platformers are an incredibly popular genre of games. This game would provide a different take on the platformer genre may interest players. Suitable for casual players 


Pineapple Plight

Play as a grocery store item (used pineapple for the name but could be anything) and try and escape the store. Shoppers will try and grab you. Powerups like “mouldy”, decreasing the interest of customers in the item. negative items such as “sale item” which would make more people in the store try and grab it. Would probably be 3D. “breaking the system” as it is about a fruit gaining consciousness and escaping future it was destined for. 


Tyrant Takedown

Players will be tasked with breaking into an eliminating the leader of a fascist organization responsible for a number of atrocities. Stealth like gameplay, focusing on strategy to find your way past security, solve puzzles such as picking locks. Use covers and different distractions to get past guards. Could make this a little more euphemistic by making it with a certain type of animal, maybe on a farm who are trying to overthrow the cruel farmer who runs the farm. “breaking the system” in the sense that it is about overthrowing a bad system.
